After several weeks unsuccessfully trying to reach Jim via phone thinking this was another time his cell phone bill didn’t get paid and unable to see him because I’m in Idaho, I checked obituaries today and saw this very sad news. The worst happened to those of us who knew and loved Jim yet his multiple health issues are no longer tying him down. Jim was a “brother” to me for over 15 years and his loving friendship will never be forgotten. Always willing to listen, validate, encourage, and uplift others from his deep faith even through his own deteriorating health, Jim was a bright light to all blessed in his presence be it in person or on the phone. When I was struggling with an alcoholic husband, trying to keep our blended family together, sexually harassed by my manager while going through the unfortunate painful divorce, losing my job for refusing sexual advances of my manager, premature menopause, stress-related health issues, situation-related suicide risk, a rebellious runaway teenager, relocation across the country from Rochester, NY to Idaho feeling so lost and alone working in a desolate desert , Jim was there every step. He was a lifeline of Hope when none could be seen. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, openly, honestly, and unapologetically. He loved life grounded in his faith. I have fond memories meeting him in local Rochester area diners for hours of laughter and conversation. We even enjoyed at times dancing bringing servers and other patrons into the fun. Jim taught me so much on listening and encouraging others. He had simple words of wisdom I won’t forget. He deeply loved his family and friends. Jim often shared his private concerns of personal and family issues that we frequently prayed over. There is such power when a man verbalizes prayer. Jim was a true prayer warrior. I am sure his family is unaware of the tens of thousands of people Jim has prayed with, encouraged, loved in the moment, and positively impacted throughout his walk on Earth. Heaven is blessed with Jim’s presence. I am sure he heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” at his life review in the after life.
