Obituary of Geraldine Maiorani

Geraldine “Gerri” Maiorani – IRONDEQUOIT After a long courageous battle with cancer, Gerri peacefully passed on July 22, 2020 at age 84. Predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, John G., and now they are truly together forever. Also by her parents, Angelo and Domenica Molella, and sister Louise (Bill) Schimmel. Survived by son Steven J. (Christine) Maiorani and daughter Linda (Buz) Benoit; grandchildren Steven A., Joseph, and Kristina; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives in Canada and Italy, along with many dear friends. Gerri was an alumnus of Our Lady of Mercy HS. She was very proud of the years she worked for Bishop Kearney HS, Rochester Chamber of Commerce, and University Club of Rochester. She was recently recognized for her service of 50 years with the Monroe County Board of Elections. Gerri was a loving wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She loved her family and she loved to cook. She enjoyed many happy occasions and holidays with them. She had many hobbies over the years, some of which were sewing, bingo, crossword puzzles, trips to the casino, spending time with her friends and of course watching television. One of her favorite shows was Jeopardy. She will be sadly missed by all of us. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit at Strong Hospital and the UR Medicine Homecare team for the care and comfort they provided for Gerri and family. Calling hours will be Monday 5-8PM at Dierna Funeral Home 2309 Culver Rd. (near Norton). Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11AM at St. Kateri at St. Cecilia’s Church.
