Obituary of Mary Alice Buscaglia

Mary Alice Buscaglia “Nonnie” Another Irish angel went to heaven on June 27, 2020. Mary was born in Oswego, New York, daughter of the late Harriet and John Brown and spent most of her life in Rochester, New York. Mary was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Salvatore Buscaglia, sister Harriet Noto, brother John (Jack) Brown, cousins Ethel Frank and Margaret Spencer. Mary loved her family more than life itself. She is survived by her adoring, forever grateful family, son Joseph (Laura) Buscaglia, daughters Mary Ann (Robert) Rombaut, Joanne (Lou) Faggiano and Barbara (Gary) Buscaglia Domenico, along with her cherished grandchildren Alicia Rombaut, Kelsey (Thad) Wier, Christopher Buscaglia and Brandon Faggiano. She is also survived by Sister in Law Olga Buscaglia, Brother in Law Damian DiTucci, cousins John and Linda Tonkin and several nieces, nephews and numerous friends including friends at Cherry Ridge, St. Ann’s Community. Mary will be remembered fondly as a very kind, loving, compassionate person with a heart of gold. She has a special way about her that made you feel good about yourself after speaking to her. She listened and remembered every conversation she had with you. She remembered everyone’s birthday, anniversary and other special occasions as evidenced by multiple cards she would send. One card was never enough. Her close family meant everything to her and she was everything to them. Mary’s faith was strong as she prayed often and attended Mass as much as she could. She had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph and St. Padre Pio. Pray, Hope and Don’t Worry as St. Padre Pio said. Mary was an X-Ray Technician at the Old West Side General Hospital where she was pursued by the love of her life Salvatore, who also worked there in the Chemistry Dept. and the rest is history. Mary and Salvatore built their family on love and respect and taught them the importance of staying close together. Faith, Family, Friends are primary, everything else is secondary. Mary was president of the Rosary Society at St. Andrews Church and was active in the parish activities. She worked at the Wilson Health Center Pediatrics Department and to this day would remember the patients now as an adult and they remember Mary as well. Once Mary met someone, she always remembered them. Before she went into the hospital Mary sent a text to one of her children saying “You are all good children. It was such a pleasure having you and all your kids. I had a beautiful life with many great memories. God was very good to me. Goodnight and sweet dreams always.” Sweet dreams Mom. A job well done. Save us a seat. Due to the current health restrictions, a private service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
