Obituary of Michael F. Hohler

IRONDEQUOIT, NY - Passed suddenly on September 28th at the age of 62. Michael was born to parents Walter and Helen Hohler in Rochester, NY. He married Michelle, the love of his life, in 1984, who survives him. He is also survived by his children Melinda (Bobby) Metcalfe, Matthew (Isabella) Hohler; grandsons Sam and Max Metcalfe; sister Linda (Gary) Feldman; parents-in-law Robert (Ursula) Heywood; brothers-in-law John Rosecrans, Bobby Heywood and Jim Williams; sisters-in-law Monika Guernsey, Linda (Wilf) Barnes, Dawn (Larry) Spencer; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Michael is predeceased by his parents, brothers Thomas and Rodney, sister Helen, and sisters-in-law Jackie and Susie.
Michael worked security at Sibley’s where he met Michelle, his loving wife of 35 years. He later graduated from RIT with a degree in Criminal Justice. He worked 22 years as a Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy where he met several lifelong “brothers.” He enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was a diehard Rams fan and always pulled for the Red Sox. He loved traveling and classic cars. Most recently, you could find him playing with his best buddy ol’ pals, Sam and Max. His greatest joy was being with his family. Their happiness was his happiness. Michael will be remembered for the love and laughter that he brought into so many people’s lives through his years.
Family and friends may call Sunday, October 6th from 12-4pm at Dierna Funeral Home (2309 Culver Road, 14609) and are encouraged to wear their favorite football attire. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 7th at 10am at Dierna with procession to follow to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
