Obituary of Gerald Savoy

Rochester NY: Gerald (Jerry) R. Savoy, 68, Rochester, NY, passed away Sunday May 5th, 2019 under the care of a dedicated and respectful staff at Hill Haven Retirement home in Webster, NY. Jerry was born in Glens Falls, NY. to the late Robert A. Savoy and late Irene J. (Pignone) Savoy, and was the oldest of four children. The family later relocated to Watertown, NY where Jerry graduated from Watertown High School in 1969, He was employed by the New York Telephone company, prior to attending Geneseo State University in Rochester, NY to pursue a degree in teaching. Jerry was the owner/operator of Business Mail Services until its sale, at which time he retired at the age of 40. Jerry is survived by a son Philip R. Savoy (Durham, NC) and his sisters Barbara A. Savoy (Walroth) Watertown, Sandy Savoy (Cavellier) Dexter, NY, and Mary Savoy (Barber) Chaumont, and a group of caring friends who he considered to be family. Jerry filled his time collecting and selling antiquities, dabbling in several unique arts, and enjoyed playing croquet with a group of his close friends. Those who loved Jerry, knew he lived every day as if it were Halloween. We would like to thank Matt C. and the kind staff at Dierna Funeral Home, Rochester for being so helpful with the final arrangements. There will be no calling hours, and the plans for a memorial service will be made for immediate family.
